Lessons:
- A wide range of instruments are offered, but most students in the “Music In Schools” programme learn piano, guitar, drums, or violin, with specialist teachers used for each instrument.
- Lessons are usually 30 minutes once a week during the school term. 20 minute lessons for beginner level students are available at selected schools.
- Reports of students’ progress are posted to parents twice a year.
- Students are encouraged to perform at school and in the Music Education Centre “Performance Afternoons” outside of school.
Community Information:
All administration, including billing, enrolling, and timetabling is managed by the Music Education Centre. A percentage of the tuition fees are returned to the school as a rental for facilities.
Lessons are timetabled to meet with the individual requirements of each school, either during school hours or after school time.
Each year, a summary of the outcomes of the “Music In Schools” programme in each school is presented to the Principal and Board of Trustees.
