Melinna is a fluent speaker of both English and Indonesian, with over 15 years of playing and performing experience and over 6 years teaching experience. She has been involved in chamber groups, orchestras and bands, often playing for weddings and many special occasions. An active church musician and accompanist, Melinna also teaches music for organisations for children with special needs, as music is considered to be a therapy. Other instruments that she plays include violin, flute and voice (all classically trained).
“I believe that music is highly used to express one's emotions - growing up as a shy and quiet person, I felt that the only way I could communicate and express my feelings toward others was when I played the instruments (piano/violin/flute/sing), and eventually performing has helped me become a more confident person due to the constant positive attitudes and feedback that I get, and using constructive comments or critics only as a way to further improve and develop my playing. I wish that my students are able to feel the same passion as me with music.”
“Music is achieved through hard work, beginners might start off with "simple tunes", but students must be motivated with the fact that once they can master the instrument, they can pretty much play anything or whatever music they feel like! “
