RYAN WALLACE

Intro
Teaching Style: Ryan can teach metal, classical (plectrum), jazz, rock and fingerstyle, however is happy to adapt to the genre needs of any student.

Experience: Ryan is a very capable teacher who began teaching private guitar lessons 10 years ago. He also earned Distinction on his Grade 8 Plectrum Guitar exam from Trinity College in 2015 and was awarded the overall Music Cup at Long Bay College (2009)

Personal Profile
Ryan began playing guitar in 1999 and was a student with the MEC for a couple of years early on. The teaching quality, performance opportunities and friendly environment left a lasting impression, and now many years later he has returned as a teacher.

Over the years Ryan has gained extensive experience in performance, composition, arrangement and recording. Being part of an actively gigging metal band for almost 10 years was also a source of many valuable lessons. He first started teaching private students in 2006 and taught at a North Shore school during the completion of his degree (Bachelor of Business Studies (Management & Information Systems) - Massey University, 2012).

“My goal as a teacher is to help students become the musician they want to be. I enjoy seeing their musical interests/style develop and leading them through new challenges. For me, music is about creativity and self expression. I want to equip students with the techniques & knowledge to handle many different musical situations, but ultimately guide them in following their own individual path - of course it's also fun to occasionally study something weird and unfamiliar.”
